Lyme Disease

Lyme disease can present in many different ways, and patients don't always develop (or remember developing) the classic erythema migrans skin rash or even remember being bitten by a tick. One such odd presentation includes syncope with complete heart block in a younger individual with few or no risk factors for heart disease. If your patient is a camper presenting with weird neurological symptoms and your suspicion is high, get serum and cerbrospinal fluid to test and empirically start on doxycycline and ceftriaxone.

Antibiotic duration depends on how severe the patients symptoms are.
